How to use the Moonriver Bridge to cross-chain?

Everything you need to know about bridging from Moonriver.

The native chain “gas” token on Moonriver is MOVR. All transactions on Moonriver are paid in MOVR. This includes bridging “cross-chain” transactions to the other chains “networks”.

When you bridge from Moonriver to another chain, a small faucet “gas token” will be airdropped  for your first transaction on the destination chain.

What is Moonriver?

Moonriver is a companion network to Moonbeam and provides a permanently incentivized canary network. New code ships to Moonriver first, where it can be tested and verified under real economic conditions. Once proven, the same code ships to Moonbeam on Polkadot.

Moonriver is the Moonbeam foundation’s EVM compatible, layer 1 blockchain as a parachain on the Kusama network. So far, Moonriver has been the primary network for bringing Ethereum and EVM chains into the Kusama ecosystem. It has already amassed over $200 million in TVL in just a short period of time.

How to configure MetaMask for Moonriver?

You have 2 options to configure MetaMask for using the Moonriver “network”:

1. Automatic by selecting the Moonriver chain in the RelayChain bridge app. This will import the network settings into metamask.
2. Manually by adding the following Polygon network settings to Metamask:

          Network Name:  Moonriver Network
          New RPC URL:  https://rpc.moonriver.moonbeam.network
          Chain ID: 1285
          Currency Symbol: MOVR
          Block Explorer URL:  https://moonriver.moonscan.io/
