How to use the Polygon Bridge to cross-chain?
Everything you need to know about bridging from Polygon (Matic)
The native chain “gas” token on Polygon is Matic. All transactions on Polygon are paid in Matic. This includes bridging “cross-chain” transactions to the other chains “networks”.
When you bridge from Polygon to another chain, a small faucet “gas token” will be airdropped for your first transaction on the destination chain.
How to Bridge “native” USDC stable coins from Polygon to other chains?
When you bridge native USDC from Polygon to another chain you will get the native USDC on the destination chain. You can verify the contracts on the other destination chains. Currently the following bridges are supported for bridging native USDC:
- Bridge Polygon => Ethereum
- Bridge Polygon => BSC
- Bridge Polygon => Avalanche
For Example:
If you bridge xx amount of USDC from Polygon (USDC contract on Polygon 0x2791bca1f2de4661ed88a30c99a7a9449aa84174) => Avalanche.
You will receive the same xx amount of USDC on Avalanche (USDC.e contract on avalanche 0xa7d7079b0fead91f3e65f86e8915cb59c1a4c664).
What is Polygon (Matic)?
Polygon is formaly known as Matic. Ethereum’s Internet of Blockchains
Polygon is a protocol and a framework for building and connecting Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks. Aggregating scalable solutions on Ethereum supporting a multi-chain Ethereum ecosystem.
Polygon solves pain points associated with Blockchains, like high gas fees and slow speeds, without sacrificing on security.
- One-click deployment of preset blockchain networks
- Growing set of modules for developing custom networks
- Interoperability protocol for exchanging arbitrary messages with Ethereum and other blockchain networks
- Modular and optional “security as a service”
- Adaptor modules for enabling interoperability for existing blockchain networks
How to configure MetaMask for Polygon?
You have 2 options to configure MetaMask for using the Polygon chain “network”:
- Automatic by selecting the Polygon chain in the RelayChain bridge app. This will import the network settings into metamask.
- Manually by adding the following Polygon network settings to Metamask:
Network Name: Polygon Network
New RPC URL: https://polygon-rpc.com/
Chain ID: 137
Currency Symbol: MATIC
Block Explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com
