How to use the Shiden Bridge to cross-chain?
Everything you need to know about bridging from Shiden.
The native chain “gas” token on Shiden is SDN. All transactions on Shiden are paid in SDN. This includes bridging “cross-chain” transactions to the other chains “networks”.
When you bridge from Shiden to another chain, a small faucet “gas token” will be airdropped for your first transaction on the destination chain.
What is Shiden?
Shiden Network is a multi-chain decentralized application layer on Kusama Network. Kusama Relaychain does not support smart contract functionality by design – Kusama Network needs a smart contract layer. This is where Shiden Network comes in. Shiden supports Ethereum Virtual Machine, WebAssembly, and Layer2 solutions from day one. The platform supports various applications like DeFi, NFTs and more.

How to configure MetaMask for Shiden?
You have 2 options to configure MetaMask for using the Shiden “network”:
- Automatic by selecting the Shiden chain in the RelayChain bridge app. This will import the network settings into metamask.
- Manually by adding the following Shiden network settings to Metamask:
Network Name: Shiden Network
New RPC URL: https://rpc.shiden.astar.network:8545
Chain ID: 336
Currency Symbol: SDN
Block Explorer URL: https://shiden.subscan.io
